Hey ya. Weekend is upon us. Not sure your weather but will be nice down here. Things are going to get cut down, chopped and mowed tomorrow. I may even clean out my garage.
beauty weather here - rain the past couple of days and perhaps tomorrow so we'll be canning - i've discovered a great way to get rid of habaneros AND yellow squash - i make a sweet/hot relish with it and it is BUTTKICKIN' TO DIE FOR ON EGGS!
clean the garage? we do that EVERY weekend! it's only a one car and mostly a catch all - to get my car in, we have to move everything out - did it once when it was threatening hail - that car is 17 feet long. now if it's about to hail, we'll take it down to the local storage buildings and sneak it into one of the large bays until the storm is passed.
I make my own salsa or whatever it would be called. Habaneros are the pain regulators. Think next time I am going to go without the Anaheim and Banana peppers. My probably is there is only me and I still end up with a gallon of the stuff. Next batch I am going to experiment. Know what I'm looking for but haven't hit on the right combination. Do know cilantro and real lemon is more essential than it may appear.
i found the greatest thing in the hispanic food section at walmart - CILANTRO BOULLION CUBES! they are a great green, dissolve easily and are easier to use than the fresh if you can't get it.
try canning your leftovers - if you use pint jars, just add a half teaspoon of salt to each jar - heat your leftover salsa to JUST boiling, distribute in the clean hot jars, cover and process for about 15-20 minutes.
Actually used to do that, boil and jar it. I now make it cold and crunchy. Buillion cubes sounds like an idea. I waste most the cilantro. Luckily it is less than a dollar.
