funny thing - i have a spongebob rod and reel set up much like this and when my in-laws were here this past spring, my f-i-l said, "you'll never catch ANYTHING with that thing!"
I have a sponge bugs bunny reel. I have it sitting out on the porch. On the end of it I have tied cat toys. So when I am out there casting and playing with the cats if anyone asks me what I am doing... cat fishing of course !
a few years ago, our dogs caught a mole and nearly destroyed it, so ours finally got it away from them and put it on a fishing pole and our cats at the cabin went berserk over it - they're so funny.
I wish I could get a video of Possum Cat doing her 360 flip. We go out on weekend morning for coffee on the porch and I can get her and her sister Lightning to wrestle by going 'get 'er' a couple of times. Possum will do her mock attack and once Lightning responds she will do a flip for her initial pounce.. pretty agile for a ten year old cat.

Whoops I corrected myself and left sponge in there. It is a Bugs Bunny line of fishing gear.
