Who's Doing The Price Gouging?
Oil Company Profits
From a $2.60 gallon of gas the oil companies that find the oil, drill and produce the oil, transport, refine and deliver to the end customer make about 9 cents on that gallon of gas.
The government, for their vigorous efforts to bring you that same gallon of gas, gets 52 cents.
Why aren't our Senators calling for an investigation of governmental price gouging ? Because oil companies in our mindless 'groupthink society' are ignorantly portrayed negatively. They are an easy mark for our elected representatives to divert the 15 second attention span of Joe and Jane Anybody away from the real thieves in our midst.
A good example is the windfall profits tax. In the past, Congress had no problem imposing a windfall profit tax on the 'evil' oil companies but would never think of imposing that same tax on someone like Michael Moore who invests a few million into a bogus documentary that earns him hundreds of millions. Is that not a windfall profit?
" The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
Ronald Reagan40th president of US (1911 - 2004)
