Monday Musing

We live in a curious time where every thing that goes wrong is blamed on the President and has become so obtuse that he is also blamed for natural disasters such as Katrina. The actual cause of the Katrina fiasco is a corrupt political system that survives by keeping its constituents ignorant, impoverished and subsidized by government largesse while the government officials skim a little off the top for themselves and their more organized constituents like unions and contractors withing their districts. In every case concerning Katrina those people are and vote Democrat.

Now the grand paragons of knowledge that lead the Democrats have indicated that they will focus the ire of high oil prices at the Republicans and the President. Never mind that they are the ones opposing we drill off Florida or ANWAR. They are the ones that want alternate forms of energy, such a wind farms, but as long as it doesn't spoil their view of Cape Cod.

So let's get some background so when the rhetoric for the 06 elections get to its full stride we have a reference of who is not doing their job.

The Congress of the United States is a unique branch of government in that it has enumerated powers:

Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;
( If the national debt is of concern, guess who is responsible )

To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;
( If oil companies profits are too high guess who is responsible )

To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;
( Is giving unfair deference to illegal Mexicans over lawful immigrants a 'uniform rule of naturalization'? )

Let's clean house in 06. Vote anti-incumbent.
