For the first time in my adult life...

Michelle Obama said that for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country.... well for the first time in my adult life I own one of these:

Now I've not always been a peaceful person.  In fact, I have been living as a threat to no one for at least 30 years because I reached a point where I didn't want to hurt anyone anymore.  I got to hate the look in some guys eyes after I beat the hell out of him.  It just makes me sick.  I have gotten to the point that I am in a live and let live state of mind.  I don't step on bugs, felt guilty about killing a mouse.  If it is not a direct threat to me then I am no threat to it. I can't even tear down a spiders web because it worked so hard and is just hungry.

But lest you think I am a hypocrite I will tear into a slab of ribs, stomp a brown recluse spider into mush and chop a poisonous snake into little pieces to protect my cats as well as nail a dog with a little rocky persuasion for the same purpose.  I just want to keep it at a minimum the suffering of God's creatures from my direct action.  Life is what it is and sometimes it is cruel.
BUT ( that's a big but ), if someone takes it upon themselves to break into my home with the intent to do me harm they with leave with massive life-changing damage.
2010 is going to be a turning point.  If inflation sets in then people are going to get desperate and property crime will rise.  Just being prudent... being prepared.

God bless every single likeminded gun owner! I'm proud of you!

You must've heard this 911 call?

I felt so sorry for this woman crying out to God, knowing full well she HAD to gun this guy down - God be with her.

My Mom lives just a little ways from there. I kept listening to the lady and thinking hey quit beating yourself up over this, God isn't going to get worked up over this. That guy chose to get drunk, he chose to trespass and threaten you. He had more than enough opportunity to simply leave. He made all the wrong choices and put her in a position where she didn't have a choice.

I closed my eyes and imagined myself in her shoes and she was so afraid of offending God. That is a thought that passes through many a mind in this situation - the 911 operator had to be on the edge of her seat silently rooting for everything to turn out just as it did.

Your mom must've been a wreck!

I called her after I read about it on News9. Was going to post it but the recording was so long. She didn't know either of them but let me just say... she is armed and would not have much of a problem with doing this to someone trying to get in her house.

I wouldn't have a problem either. Things are becoming more and more uncertain out there - people in need are pretty much willing to do ANYTHING to stay in the game and they're looking for the "haves" - thankfully, we have three good dogs who alert us to anything that gets within an eighth of a mile of the front OR back door!

Tell your mom to be careful and there's no harm in being prepared - at the cabin we have had a bear for the past several months and I'm thinking its hide would look good on our livingroom floor...hehehe...

Frankly, I'd rather brave the wildlife than any nutcase human.
