Basackwards

Listening to the radio today I heard a discussion about the tobacco tax. A pundit from those in favor mentioned that hopefully the high cost will cause people to quit.

Hey that would be good. I quit myself but it was my choice. I believe in individual freedom and responsibility. If you choose to kill yourself one puff at a time that is your choice. However, when you have lung cancer expect a measured amount of sympathy from me; much like someone telling me they gambled and lost. Bummer but it was their choice.

So I got to thinking about this and how the progressives, though claiming to be about the people, are the ones that try to legislature what we can do with our bodies. They band trans-fats, they raise the price of tobacco so it is too expensive to smoke, they spend a fortune in propaganda to take met out of our diet and now the big push is on the document our private health history and control of what professional doctors can or cannot do. There is only one thing I can think of that they have no problem in wanting to limit what we can to our bodies. If your body is hosting another living being they have no problem with you killing this person. Only people that can vote are persons.

We live in odd times.

Separation Of Press and State

The First Amendment is the core of our freedoms:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
The very first freedom being the free exercise of religion. For this many believe it means the freedom 'from' religion and 'the separation of church and state.' I would think it more appropriate to think of it as a freedom from government interference.

If this line of thinking can be construed in such a way then why not apply it to the other freedoms enumerated? How about the separation of press and state?

Boring Personal Stuff

I am tired of politics. Just extremely frustrated. So I want to blog about something else so how about the IOpian's big adventure? Or...what I did this weekend.

But first some background..

I am trying to get my inspiration for music fired back up. Have all this equipment I would have killed for when I actually did music and haven't picked my guitar up in many months. Never thought the day would come when I wouldn't have one under my arm 4 hours a day. Then again I am years beyond the mating rituals and this old bird just sits and farts instead of singing.

What holds me back is doing drum tracks. Once I have that track built all the rest is just fun, but for me its the drums that is work. I have numerous ways to build these but none has really proven satisfying.

With digital equipment there are many options. My goal was do use MIDI files. In case you aren't familiar MIDI means Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Basically MIDI assigns a numerical value to the pitch and duration of a note. Then there is voicing which simply means the sound of a drum, tuba, voice, snyth sound, guitar or any sound. SO with a stored MIDI value it can be voiced to anything. I could play a series of notes and record them to MIDI and assign any voice to those notes like drums sounds. So my goal was to take all the drum machines and rhythm makers and record all of their patches so I could just drag and drop into my recording software. Much like you can do in Acid Music.

That proved to be tedious and drove me away to blogging into the void during my boredom and insomnia. So the idea hit me to go looking for a digital set of drums. One thing a life of being around music, garage bands, performing bands and in the affluent times home studios you end up learning so very basics on other instruments. I don't claim I play the drums but it is not like I can't do basics. So I popped the bucks on a mid-level set of digital drums by Roland the TD-6SX/B: I recorded a song in a couple of days and had a great time doing the drums and bass. However, I am just not up to par on drums.

Now, to this weekend. Months have past since I've even touched the drums. Beong as the economy is in the dumps and my contract will come to term later this year there was only one thing for me to do... buy more stuff. I found a product by ToonTracks called EZDrummer. It worked in my old Cubase LE recording software that is commonly shipped with music electronics. The drag and drop feature did not work. I shopped and mulled for many weeks but evently gave in an popped some more bucks for the latest CuBase Studio 5 recording software. The drag and drop feature works. Now the quandary; I want to work in comfort and my more powerfule PC I installed this on is on the wrongside of the room. All kinds of details but in short, I needed to rearrange the studio. In order to do that I need to clear out the little bedroom that is cluttered with old equipment, guitars and stacks of recording tape. Well to do that I need to move this workbench out of that room. Suddenly I saw the vision.

It was Saturday afternoon and I calculated I would have to get after it so my house wouldn't be trashed Monday. Worked until four in the morning but got the major components moved into position. Sunday was moving the little stuff. Amazingly the house looks like it has more room plus that little bedroom is now nearly empty. I bought some shelving I need to assemble for storage of the tapes and old equipment but now I am entertaining the idea of getting this day bed I saw and putting it in there. That little room is the most serene place in the house. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

So here is my studio. It is a work in progress. I have only the necessities wired at the moment, not all of the equipment is in there yet but this is an nice spacious and comfortable layout. Not bad for an overweight geezer with a bad back ( actually, in the long run it helped my back and the pain I felt was the good pain from getting those muscles doing for a change. ) in a weekend.

Great Obama Revolution

That could never happen here.... oh really?

The process of rusting is the same as fire. They differ only in the rate of oxidation but the destructiveness is certain. Our freedom is rusting piece by piece with little bits taken over at a time that pose no immediate danger until the entire structure is weakened and collapses. The reason our freedoms is rusting away is because Congress keeps pissing all over it.

Freedom must be jealously and selfishly guarded.

I think in 2010 people need to toss these people out. Vote for the alternate candidate rather than the incumbent. The people need to do the same thing the Obamanoids are doing... destroy the old structure and build a new one. That can work two ways but we certainly cannot do any worse with fresh blood than this stale group we have now.

Alert! Pigs DO Fly

Conyers proposes investigation of A.C.O.R.N.

Now I can get behind that and would be very interesting.... wonder if Bumble's name will come up...often?

Wow, one flying pig in one day and then another: Obama not up to speed.

Dumbo Bumbles and Stumbles... Again

Dumbo gets the message.... Don't mess with our wounded troops.

I still can't believe these idiots even contemplated making our troops use their own insurance to pay for injuries while serving their country. Only lowlifes think along such lines. How about making illegal immigrants pay for theirs? Oh yeah, soldiers aren't likely to vote for cowardly Democrats.

I do have a suggestion. If the democrats are hell bent on healthcare reform let them do a 'stress test' on VA medical care. Let's see if they can create a shining example of their reforms on those that need it. If they do a great job then even I may go along with expanding it. If it is a fiasco then let's keep health care a private matter and responsibility.

Paper Wealth?

I was just sitting here, when I should be working, making comments on my favorite blogs and listening to Fox News Talk ( Beck ) and he played a tape of Obumble. I've heard this airy pronouncement from Obumble that we need to smooth out the economy for the long term so we don't have all of these bubbles and bursts. We need to transition from paper wealth to real wealth.

This is without a doubt unbelievable ignorant for someone who can have so much effect on an economy. It's quite clear that Carter, Clinton, Obumbles, Pelosi, Reid, Frank or Dodd did not see the mortgage bust coming. All my wealth is just paper. My mortgage, just paper, the check I pay them with, just paper. The money in my account I draw against, just paper and one fire that is gone.

What an idiot !! Hell he can't even organize a cabinet. Have you seen the condition of the things he's organized ? God, please intervene or give us the courage to risk it all, to say enough is enough and fight back furiously now while it can be nipped in the bud.

Conservative must take back the Senate in midterms. It is the most doable and effective thing to slow this down until we can get someone worthy of the job into the Presidency.

Teleprompter Addiction

Actors, merely reading their lines.

I doubt Obama had any trouble thanking himself. He probably does that each morning in front of a mirror.

Employee Free Choice (?) Act

Over at Townhall.com Michael Ramirez explains the Employee Free Choice Act and its open ballot called Card Check. How long before these Dems try to 'improve' our country by doing the same thing with our voting booths?

Calling this 'Free Choice' is like perfuming a skunk. Likewise, be very afraid anytime these Orwellian facists use the term 'Reinvestment' in the title of legislation.. be very afraid.

They Like Us Now?

How not to restore respect abroad.

My hunch is that the Black Liberationist former British subject's daddy influenced the way Obama sees Britain; a colonial power that enslaved the dark-skinned peoples of the world. The white man's greed running a world in need. Unfortunately he fails to realize in some places the dark-skinned people lived a better life under colonial rule than they do now under 'liberation'. That was then, this is now. Get over it.

Political Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome

Read the following description of the sickness and while doing so think of Obama and Democrats as the care giver, the economy and American traditions as the one ailing and the liberal elitists as the medical professionals.

Munchausen by proxy syndrome (MBPS)

I never knew this syndrome could apply to a political philosophy.

Building The Liberal Strawman

First, the Straw Man Fallacy is one of the most common techniques used in many issues. The Democrats have mastered its use. The fallacy works like this:

1. A statement is made asserting X
2. The antagonist misrepresents X by interpreting it as Y.
3. The antagonist then attacks Y in order to prove X is wrong.

So here is a current example of the Democrat/Liberal technique to build a straw man as a diversion of an inconvenient truth.

A. Rush Limbaugh makes a statement:
"So I shamelessly say, no, I want him to fail, if his agenda is a far- left collectivism, some people say socialism, as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?"

Here's the video, see what Rush actually said.
Note that he said he wanted Obama to fail at something specific, his socialist agenda.

B. So the Democrat powers gather to edit the message into compliance with the 'no more than six words' rule lest their constituency forgets it. They end up with 'Limbaugh: I Want Obama to Fail'. This message is then forwarded to the Propaganda Field Offices to be drilled into the minds of the minions like good little Dorothys stuffing straw back in as it comes out of their straw man while Toto barks instructions.

ThinkProgress
SFGate
Huffington Post
Crooksandliars

Or visit any conservative blog's comments section to see the trickle down effect as millions of mindless minions attempt to articulate today's talking points, operative word here is 'attempt'.

After the body of their Straw Man takes shape the big boys from the head office show up on the Sunday morning talk shows to add the finishing touch with another fallacy, the hasty generalization, intended to generalize the fallacy down to a single concept.... Rush is praying for failure.
"It's our desire that the Republicans would work with us and try to be constructive, rather than adopt the philosophy of somebody like Rush Limbaugh, who is praying for failure," Emanuel said.
Even those who are envious of Rush's ability to steal the spotlight with boldness will jump on the band-wagon and in a cowardly manner abandon the truth and play along with the Straw Man.
Emanuel suggested that Republicans who defy Limbaugh have to bow down to the commentator and seek forgiveness. If true, Rep. Eric Cantor, the fourth-ranking Republican in the House, could be next on the list. He said Sunday he does not take the Limbaugh approach of supporting failure.

"I don't think anyone wants anything to fail right now. We have such challenges. What we need to do is we need to put forth solutions to the problems that real families are facing today. And our common-sense, conservative principles of limited government, and the belief in free markets, and the belief that really opportunity can only be created by the private sector are going to undergird our proposals going forward," Cantor told ABC's "This Week."
Sorry Mr. Cantor but I too want the Obamunists to fail and fail miserably at taking my country from me. Either stand up for principles or sit down and let others lead.

And now the intent of the attack has been achieved.... the public's attention has been diverted from the qualifier to Rush's assertion...
If his agenda is a far- left collectivism, some people say socialism, as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?"
I my mind there are two possibilities why Democrats do this; they are either logically challenged or just deceptive scum.

The result is that we all become unwilling victims of the liberal's mental illness of their mind's disassociation and inability to discern reality.

Update: Here is another example along with an analysis in synch with mine why the Democrats do this:

Antonia Ferrier, a spokeswoman for House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), said Gibbs was trying to create a distraction by responding to Limbaugh.
"What we are seeing is a desperate attempt by Democrats to distract attention away from a multi-trillion dollar spending spree taking place in Washington," Ferrier said. "Creating a boogeyman to change the subject does nothing to alter the fact that there are 9,000 earmarks in the omnibus spending bill, that the economic stimulus bill contained no Republican input or that their budget would increase taxes on all Americans."
