FOXNews.com - Mexico's Congress Legalizes Drugs for Personal Use
This is a rather interesting turn of events and may turn out rather advantageous. If I were a drug smuggler why would I take the risk of crossing the US border when my customers will come to me as drug tourists ? Then for my high-volume customers it would be they that have to take the risk of carrying the stuff back into the US.
As tourist dollars flow into Mexico so too will opportunity as service, medical and food industries expand with the demand. Then when the junkie's flock to Mexico it will fall upon their health and welfare systems to address the problem. With enough opportunity we might even see many illegal-aliens head back to their real home.

Who's Doing The Price Gouging?

Oil Company Profits
From a $2.60 gallon of gas the oil companies that find the oil, drill and produce the oil, transport, refine and deliver to the end customer make about 9 cents on that gallon of gas.
The government, for their vigorous efforts to bring you that same gallon of gas, gets 52 cents.
Why aren't our Senators calling for an investigation of governmental price gouging ? Because oil companies in our mindless 'groupthink society' are ignorantly portrayed negatively.They are an easy mark for our elected representatives to divert the 15 second attention span of Joe and Jane Anybody away from the real thieves in our midst.
A good example is the windfall profits tax. In the past, Congress had no problem imposing a windfall profit tax on the 'evil' oil companies but would never think of imposing that same tax on someone like Michael Moore who invests a few million into a bogus documentary that earns him hundreds of millions. Is that not a windfall profit?
" The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Monday Musing
We live in a curious time where every thing that goes wrong is blamed on the President and has become so obtuse that he is also blamed for natural disasters such as Katrina. The actual cause of the Katrina fiasco is a corrupt political system that survives by keeping its constituents ignorant, impoverished and subsidized by government largesse while the government officials skim a little off the top for themselves and their more organized constituents like unions and contractors withing their districts. In every case concerning Katrina those people are and vote Democrat.
Now the grand paragons of knowledge that lead the Democrats have indicated that they will focus the ire of high oil prices at the Republicans and the President. Never mind that they are the ones opposing we drill off Florida or ANWAR. They are the ones that want alternate forms of energy, such a wind farms, but as long as it doesn't spoil their view of Cape Cod.
So let's get some background so when the rhetoric for the 06 elections get to its full stride we have a reference of who is not doing their job.
The Congress of the United States is a unique branch of government in that it has enumerated powers:
Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To borrow money on the credit of the United States;
( If the national debt is of concern, guess who is responsible )
To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;
( If oil companies profits are too high guess who is responsible )
To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;
( Is giving unfair deference to illegal Mexicans over lawful immigrants a 'uniform rule of naturalization'? )
Let's clean house in 06. Vote anti-incumbent.

More Semantic Blurring
Ya know... calling an illegal foreigner in our country an 'immigrant' is like calling a burglar a 'guest'.

Mideast Chest Thumping
Saddam's Pre-Invasion Chest-Thumping:
"We are not intimidated by the size of the armies, or the type of hardware the US has brought."
"Allah is on our side. That is why we will beat the aggressor."
"Keep your eyes on your enemy and be faster than him."
The Post-Invasion Reality:
"My name is Saddam Hussein. I am the president of Iraq, and I want to negotiate."

Today's Chest Thumping by Ahmadinejad:
"Today, Iran's army is one of the most powerful armies in the world and it will powerfully defend the country's political borders and the nation,"
"It will cut off the hands of any aggressors and will make any aggressor regret it,"
"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map"
The Likely Future For Ahmadinejad:

Israel doesn't play to the world press.

Tax Time
Well it's tax time. I was waiting for a teleconference to begin yesterday with taxes on my mind while I read an article about government spending. So I got to wondering how long it would take the government to spend my federal tax.
In the article it said that government spending was at an all time. Somewhere around 650 billion. Then I googled how many seconds are in a year - 31,556,926 seconds.
Simple division tells us that the government will spend $20,598 a second.
What I earned in 2 months is pissed down the tubes in a mere 388 milliseconds.
To all illegal aliens, greasy palmed politicians, the regimes of Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan and other basket case members of the UN.... you're welcome.

Ideological Cancer - The Movie
Check out:
lgf: The Bloody Borders Project
Once you're on the site check out this animation and focus on Iran. Why so few attacks while the Neanderthals rage about them? Ever wonder where the epi-center of radical islamic savagery was? Ever wonder why we deposed Saddam after deposing the Taliban in Afghanistan? Wonder why the President was so insistent on not offending Dubai over the port operation deal, a country that has a shore on the Strait of Hormuz. Ever looked on a map to see where the Iranian Bushehr nuclear facility was? The NeoCons ( that's a politically correct way to say Conservative Jew without exposing one's repressed anti-semitism ) may be a little more visionary than many think.
President Carter should have strangled this movement in its infancy.

"Aggression unopposed becomes a contagious disease."

More Slippery Semantics
Washington Post:
"Universal health care law enacted in Massachusetts"
Folks this IS NOT 'Universal Health Care'.
This is 'Compulsory Health Care'. Hardly an innovative model for the rest of the states.
What really burns me about this is that they go after the easy target, you and me, instead of tackling the real problem of sleaze bag personal injury lawyers and their lobbyists greasing the palms of politicians.
I hope Romney isn't counting on my vote when he runs for President.
