General Musings on the Future

I generally keep up with embedded bloggers like Michael Yon, Bill Roggio and Iraqis the brothers at Iraq The Model. In the past they have told the bad right along with the good concerning Iraq. I simply am tired of having to filter the DNC talking points out of the traditional new sources. So I come away getting the picture that even Rumsfeld had it right that it would be a long hard slog. Now it is starting to bear positive results but will still be difficult to consolidate our gains.

The situation has come a long way this year. The war was declared unwinnbale, a failure and, by those great and deep thinkers in the Senate, lost. They pronounced the surge would do no good and failing even before all of the components were in place. Now those people are once again being proven wrong. They were wrong before the invasion, wrong during the occupation and wrong about the current status.

This got me to thinking about how much things can change in a year. With the election more than a year away I think the Democrats have talked themselves into a very problematic situation. With it looking far more likely that a strengthening Iraq supported by an international coalition will prevail over time the democrats will have a hard time back-tracking out of their positions. Allow me to substitute the word 'the war' into the future with the word 'Victory'. So here is the situation the Democrat contenders and pundits could face:

Obama: I was against Victory before I was for it.

Hillary: I was for Victory before I was against it before I was for it.

Edwards: I was for Victory all along. The spirit of John Kennedy came upon me and showed me that he would want us to bear any burden and oppose any foe in the defense of liberty.

Kucinich: I was against Victory and I'm still against it.

John Kerry: You know, I was in Vietnam. Well.. it's the only word I know with a 'V' in it.

"Now, Republicans are using a filibuster to block us from even voting on an amendment that could bring the war to a responsible end,"

and...

"If Republicans do not allow a vote on Levin/Reed today or tomorrow, we will work straight through the night on Tuesday. The American people deserve an open and honest debate on this war, and they deserve an up or down vote on this amendment to end it."

ok.. now consider those two statements while watching this: Reid's idea of an open and honest debate to surrender in a responsible way.

These guys are politiclly pandering and postering pond scum. This crap is so naive it borders on delusional. These people cannot be allowed any further power after 2008. The damage they've done to the war effort in the last few months so they can gain more seats is beyond repair. Treasonous vermin.

The Strong Horse

For those who do not understand what Iraq is about, what Afghanistan is about, what Somalia is about and why Europe has already invited and nourished the infection and it may be too late for them let's start at the official kickoff of the jihadi craze:

Al Qaeda Declaration of War February 23 1998:

"On that basis, and in compliance with God's order, we issue the following fatwa to all Muslims: The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies-civilians and military-is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque [Mecca] from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim."

Osama's 'Mein Kempf' given during a Frontline Interview May 1998 contains the following question/answer:

OBL: "After our victory in Afghanistan and the defeat of the oppressors who had killed millions of Muslims, the legend about the invincibility of the superpowers vanished. In the same interview he gives warning in 1998:

"The American government is leading the country towards hell. ... We say to the Americans as people and to American mothers, if they cherish their lives and if they cherish their sons, they must elect an American patriotic government that caters to their interests not the interests of the Jews. If the present injustice continues with the wave of national consciousness, it will inevitably move the battle to American soil, just as Ramzi Yousef and others have done. This is my message to the American people."

So we contemplated our navels until September 11, 2001 and afterward frothed vigorously that we never saw it coming. In his tour of triumph Osama showed up on vieotape in December of that year and explained his strategy for attacking and rallying the cult of the moon-god:

"When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature, they will like the strong horse."

This is the goal of the enemy. To break our will and draw the world into seeing him and the mooj as the strong horse.

And he may be right. Here is evidence of the people being drawn to the Strong Horse .

Will he be right about our national will ? Yes... if Pelosi, Kennedy, Clinton, Reid, Murtha, Durbin, Edwards, Obama, NYT, WaPo, Rosie, Moore and that whole list of delusional, spineless, self-acclaimed elitists can't temper their tongues in their war against George Bush.

Fred 'Gets It'

One of the reasons I like Fred Thompson as a possible President is that he 'gets it'. He understands the potential and influence of the internet and it's social implications. So far he is using it with mastery.

The June 29th piece about the Fairness Doctrine is on the money:
